Frequently asked questions
What types of pearls are used in jewellery making?
Our jewellery is created from high quality freshwater cultured pearls (A and above). We offer a wide variety of pearls, including keshi or baroque pearls.
What is the provenance of the pearls?
We have a breeding farm in China, the largest market for pearls. One of our founders discovered her love of pearls after her first trip to China in 2014*, that's when she made more personal and trusted contacts. All our pearls are carefully selected from a specialized farm in China.
What is the cleaning and maintenance process for pearl jewellery?
For cleaning and maintenance of pearl jewellery, we recommend using a soft, slightly damp napkin to gently wipe the surface of the pearls. Avoid contact with strong chemicals or perfumes. It is recommended to store them separately from other jewellery.
What are the criteria for selecting the pearls you use in your creation?
We select pearls according to their quality, lustre, size, shape and colour. We ensure that the pearls used in our jewellery meet the highest standards of beauty and durability. We prefer non-uniform pearls to create unique jewellery.
Are there differences in the quality of the pearls?
The majority of our jewellery is made from A+ or AA grade pearls, this ensures that the pearl is lustrous, free of blemishes, but retains its wild spirit through the more non-uniform pearl. On request we make necklaces from AAAA quality pearl, pearl that is highly pearlescent and perfectly round.
Can I see and examine the pearls in person before I buy?
We are an online-only store, but we can set up an appointment to personally view and examine the jewelry before making a purchase. We will be happy to offer advice and show you the options available. We also attend several local fairs and announce on social media when and where to find us.
Do you have a warranty or bead return program?
Yes, we offer a 30-day warranty and flexible return program. I invite* you to see our return policy for detailed information https://pearlcode.co/policies/refund-policy .
What is the durability of the pearls and how should I care for them over time?
Pearls are durable, but being a delicate gemstone, they require careful attention and attitude. Avoid contact with chemicals and avoid wearing them during strenuous physical activity. Clean them with a soft, slightly damp cloth towel after each wear and keep them in a soft jewellery box, separate from other jewellery that might scratch them. That way, your favourite pearl jewellery will last over time and you can pass it on to your heirs.
